FIRST VISIT

Patient and Dentist

Our office, as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by 1 year of age. Children who have a "Dental Home" are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.

The Dental Home is intended to provide a place other than the Emergency Room for parents.

Patients can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. If old enough, patients should be informed about the visit and told that the dentists and the staffs will explain all procedures in details. We invite parents to stay with their child during the initial examination. During future appointments, we recommend parents to allow their kids to accompany our staffs through the dental experience. It's often easier for us to establish a closer rapport with the kids when parents are not present. Our purpose is to gain your kids' confidence and comfort. However, parents are always welcome to stay with their kids in the treatment room. For the safety and privacy of all patients, patients who are not being treated should remain in the reception room.

We strive to make each and every visit to our office a fun one!
